The Story of Miley Cyrus and the Disney Channel

Miley Cyrus ruled the Disney Channel for many years as the teen pop sensation Hannah Montana. But as she matured, Cyrus decided to leave her Disney days behind and move on to bigger and better things. She stepped out with a whole new look, giving the middle finger to the world because she didn’t care what people thought about the new chapter in her life.

Cyrus quickly established that she was no longer Hannah Montana as she swung from a wrecking ball, nearly naked, in one of her first singles after leaving Disney. From twerking on stage with Robin Thicke and coming out as pansexual to pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards, Cyrus has kept everyone on their toes. Many celebrities have weighed in on Cyrus, and we are here to break it down.

Like Water off a Duck’s Back

Since leaving the Disney Channel, Miley Cyrus has faced a lot of backlash from fans and celebrities. Her wild antics have created many feuds with the likes of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Cher. However, the singer doesn’t let the hate get to her.

Cyrus doesn’t worry too much about what people say. She believes that if people have something to say about her, her behavior, or music, she’s important enough to be talked about. While it doesn’t tend to bother her, Cyrus doesn’t stay quiet when people talk about her. She is not afraid to stand up to the haters.

Feuding With Taylor Swift

Cyrus and Swift had been friends and supporters of each other for several years, but their relationship turned sour when Swift released her album 1989. While Swift posted several pictures of her friends joining her tour, Cyrus was nowhere to be found. Cyrus said she wasn’t part of Swift’s “Squad” and preferred to surround herself with people who had “real lives.”

Cyrus felt there was a double standard between them. When Swift released her “Bad Blood” music video, Cyrus said Swift could get away with wearing sexy, revealing outfits while she was called out for her style on stage. Cyrus also felt that Swift wasn’t setting a positive example by promoting violence and revenge in the video.

Where Do They Stand Now?

While the status of their friendship is fairly unknown, the stars haven’t spoken about each other in recent years. The two have been successful, focusing on their careers rather than what the other person is doing. Their fans adore them whether they are friends or not.

Maybe we will see these two become friends again in the future, but some people just grow apart and go their separate ways. Only time will tell, but we are sure their fans would be delighted to see them collaborate on a song. For now, the two pop stars are in no rush to be best friends again.

The Awkward Moment With Nicki Minaj

How can anyone forget the 2015 MTV VMA moment when Nicki Minaj said, “Back to this b*tch who had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what’s good?” Cyrus’s feud with Minaj started after Minaj was annoyed that her video didn’t get nominated for an award, but Swift’s “Bad Blood” video was nominated.

The comment had nothing to do with Cyrus, but Cyrus had a lot to say about Minaj’s reaction. She called out Minaj, saying, “there is  no point in pinning successful women against each other.” Their feud came to a head at the VMAs, but Cyrus brushed off the comment by stating her words were mischaracterized by the press.

Reigniting the Feud

Things between Minaj and Cyrus settled down, but Cyrus reignited the feud four years later. In her single “Cattitude,” Cyrus said, “I love you, Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.” Knowing their history, it wasn’t the best choice of words on Cyrus’s part.

Cyrus knew that Minaj was feuding with Cardi B, but she chose to interject herself into another situation. Since then, the two haven’t talked about each other publicly, and no one knows if they are still feuding. It’s safe to say they probably aren’t friends at this point.

Making Katy Perry Uncomfortable

Back in the day, when Cyrus embarked on her Bangerz tour, Katy Perry excitedly sat in the front row to cheer on her friend. The 2014 concert at the Staples Center was quite eventful after Cyrus spotted Perry in the crowd. Cyrus wanted to do something big, so she leaned in to kiss Perry.

However, Perry was visibly uncomfortable. Perry later shared that she thought it would be a peck on the lips, but Cyrus went too far. She recalled, “And then she like tried to mover her head and go deeper, and I pulled away.” Perry wasn’t happy with the situation, and Cyrus didn’t like the comments Perry made after the incident.

Taking Their Fight to Social Media

Perry went further with her comments by tweeting about the situation. She wrote, “God knows where that tongue has been.” Cyrus replied by taking aim at Perry’s ex-boyfriend, John Mayer. She said Mayer’s tongue had been in unknown places, meaning other female celebrities.

Cyrus made things worse by posting a picture of the kiss to show that Perry was into the intimate moment. Perry never responded to the tweet because she was too busy touring the world and promoting her Prism album.

Cher Critiqued Her Performance

Cher is a legend in the music industry and holds herself to a high standard. However, she isn’t shy about giving her input on other people’s careers. When Cyrus put on a wild performance with Robin Thicke, Cher was quick to critique the act. She said, “I’m not old-fashioned; she could have come out naked if she’d just rocked the house.”

She didn’t hate the provocative nature of the performance, but she felt Cyrus’s performance was done poorly. Cher commented on her dancing, the way Cyrus looked, and she didn’t like how often Cyrus stuck her tongue out.

Miley Appreciated the Comments

Cyrus wasn’t surprised when people had a lot to say about her performance. She was used to people trashing her, but Cyrus felt different about Cher’s comments. She felt like she finally made a name for herself after Cher commented on her performance.

She thought that if someone as iconic as Cher cared to speak about her, then her career was on a new level. Cyrus mentioned how Cher was bother by her sticking her tongue out, stating, “Yo, I pissed Cher off. I really made it.” Whatever people have to say about Cyrus, she takes it all with a positive attitude.

She realized that if someone as famous as Cher was investing her time to speak about her, that means that her career was at a whole new level. She recalled how Cher was angry that she stuck her tongue out, and she responded with, “Yo, I pissed Cher off, I really made it.”
